Rather than creating a new program, the Center for Healthy Families combines the resources of existing agencies and organizations in a comprehensive continuum of care services. From teen pregnancy prevention and health care, to parenting education, to housing, primary and secondary education, child care and employment assistance – based on the individual needs of each teen.
Fortunately, in Franklin County there are many outstanding public and private sector organizations dedicated to preventing the causes and consequences of teen pregnancy, but some organizations operate in isolation from each other. For the first time in our community, the Center for Healthy Families provides an infrastructure – or virtual “umbrella” – to bring together in a single system the key agencies that serve pregnant teens, their partners and children.
