Pregnancy Changes Everything
And for teens, it’s even more difficult and uncertain.
At The Center for Healthy Families, we believe every pregnant and parenting teen should have opportunities and resources to develop healthy, stable, and productive families.
During the summer of 2014, the Center for Healthy Families conducted a study designed to ascertain the experiences and opinions of pregnant and parenting teens, teen fathers, caregivers, and organizations that provide services to pregnant or parenting teens.
The goal was to provide insights of community assets that support this group and help drive community dialogue to build awareness of needs and provide a resource guide to teens and their families. Nearly 180 pregnant and parenting teens, teen fathers, support individuals and over 45 organizations participated in the study.
The Center for Healthy Families hopes to stimulate a community dialogue among all teens and especially those who are pregnant and parenting, their families and friends, the professionals that serve them, and the community planners, policy makers and funders of services.
Funding for this study was provided by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners and administered by Franklin County Department of Job & Family Services.
